Science

Today at school we made tie dye. The people came from OU ( Otago University ) First we had to mix water and acidite.

The we added our indigo dye and mixed. The we put our cloth into the beaker and let it sit. Mostyn kept on putting his finger in to make it blue. Then I grabbed his finger and lifted it out. But he flicked his finger and tipped the mixture onto the the table. Then he blamed it on me. So then we had this massive debate on who spilled it. But Harmony said he did it. But Jake came in and told us it was no ones fault. The we had to unravel our cloth and let it dry on a paper towel. After all it was a really fun experience.

Athletics

So recently we have started practicing for athletics day. It hasn’t started yet but we have been practicing. My favourite athletic is the sprints and long jump. Long jump is fun because you run for ages then leap in to the air. I like sprints to because I always get 4th or 3rd and its also really fun to run to see how fast you can go.

Turangawaewae: My Happy Place

I come from a place where the mountain tops are frosted with snow. All the houses in the village are bundled with bushes. To my right there is an icy lake that looks like a sky full of stars. I can see people sipping hot chocolate right next to the warm fire where the flames flicker like a torch in the night. I feel asleep as if I could drift away. As I walk to the icy lake I can hear a gentle calming sound that soothes me. I stand on the icy lake while looking at the moon.

The moon is shining so bright that I feel like he’s talking to me. I feel as if I could finally breathe and feel strong. The moon is telling me to be my own person and I can change the world if I wanted to. In the real world people make me feel as if I don’t belong. But here I feel amazed. While the world goes by I finally feel grounded as if I finally belong , which I do. I come from a place where the folks are kind, careful and caring. I come from a place where the snow falls ever so slowly on the ground. I come from a place where you can belong.

The place I come from makes me feel safe and okay to be me.

My place at home in my imagination.

For pet day we did some snail art. So instead of the shell we made something else round. I did a snow globe. I painted the snail a light yellow while I used paint pens for coloring in small details. I had a small lake and a small wooden cabin.

This is my tapa flower. First we had to draw a design on our piece of paper. The we had to paint a base color on our flower. The the next day we had to get some paint pens and draw our design down. I used dark navy blue as a base coat. Then I used white to make a cross. I used some yellow do to the lines. I also used white to do the dots and finally a dark blue to do the dots between the yellow lines.

My Comic

This is my comic. I usually would have a really big comic because I am a person who thinks of something then has a whole massive backstory to it. But I wasn’t allowed to have something massive. I have to learn to shorten down my ideas and forget about the whole backstory thing.

In class we usually have a game of volleyball. Sometimes we have rotations and sometimes we have free for all. We even play keepy uppy. Sometimes we play with the other class Ngiao but we do rotations with them because it can get crowded when we play volleyball.

We did tesselation. We made animal stencils then used them to trace and then we colored them in. I used the colors black, orange and light brown. When I first started the tesselation I failed a couple a times but then I got better and better and in the end I did the job sussecfully.

Pet day was on Wednsday. In the hall we had Cats, Guinea pigs, Chickens, Roosters, Bunny’s/Rabbit’s and on the bottom field we had Calves, Goats, Lambs, Dogs and one special little pigeon. We also went through the classes to see what the had done. I must say I was very impressed on how some artwork was really good.
